LAS VEGAS, Nevada (August 19, 2024) - PGA of America Golf Professional Brian Jones, the Associate Director of the University of Nevada, Las Vegas PGA Golf Management University Program, has earned PGA Master Professional Status, the highest educational designation a PGA of America Member can obtain.

The Association comprises more than 30,000 PGA of America Golf Professionals, and Jones, a Member of the Southwest PGA Section, joins a special group as the 449th to earn Master Professional status. He achieved his designation in Executive Management.

The PGA Master Professional Program is available to those with at least 10 years of PGA of America Membership along with having achieved advanced certification through the PGA Specialized and Certified Professional Programs. The curriculum includes an extensive project based on the specific certification previously acquired by the PGA of America Golf Professional. PGA Master Professional status is earned upon successful completion of the project’s presentation.

The program was established in 1969 to recognize PGA of America Members who make a significant effort to improve as golf professionals and maintain the highest degree of excellence for themselves and their operations. The curriculum is designed to ensure golf professionals are prepared to meet the growing demands of the marketplace within the Executive Management, Golf Operations and Teaching and Coaching Designations.

“I’m honored to be considered with the likes of the great Master Professionals before me,” said Jones. “I saw the importance of what becoming a Master Professional can do for my career and I really enjoy mentoring our students, alumni and other PGA of America Golf Professionals. I think in order to be a good mentor you have to lead by example, walk the walk. It’s important for me to now be able to speak to what it’s like to be a Master Professional.”

After graduating from the UNLV PGA Golf Management Program in 2012, Jones continued his golf career at Tuscany Golf Club in Henderson, Nevada, as the Director of Golf and then later served as the General Manager. After stints as General Manager at Stallion Mountain Golf Club and Las Vegas Golf Club, Jones returned to the UNLV PGA Golf Management Program in 2018.

In his role at UNLV, Jones is responsible for helping provide extensive classroom courses, internship experiences and opportunities for player development in a four-and-one-half to five-year program for aspiring PGA of America Golf Professionals.

Jones resides in Henderson with his wife Rebecca and two daughters, Penelope and Everly.
